Colostrum and your Pets

The powdered form is easily added to your pet's food. Many dogs and cats will eat the lozenges as treats. Dogs and cats with compromised health should be given 2-3 lozenges daily for a week or two and about 1/4 tsp.of the powder two times a day. The powder should be used for mouth and throat problems rather than the lozenges. For maintenance, use 1/4 tsp of the powder daily or one lozenge. Horses may be given 1/2 tsp. two times daily of the powder on their feed.
The colostrum liquid is great to keep on hand for minor scratches or wounds your pet may have. Apply directly to the wound with a tissue. For wounds that don't want to heal or for quicker healing, apply the liquid to a tissue. Put this directly on the wound and wrap clear plastic wrap around the area and leave on overnight. If your pet will not leave the wrap on, then apply the liquid with a tissue several times a day or try using tape to secure the wrap.
Ashitaba and your Pets
Recently I was faced with a cat with hyperthyroidism who is 15 years old who seemed to be declining daily. He also has Horner's Syndrome which is more serious in cats than dogs. My 15 year old dog also fell ill and she suddenly became lethargic to the point of barely getting up. She was diagnosed with a pancreatic infection and the veterinarian felt it could possibly be cancer. He prescribed antibiotics and a recheck in 4 weeks. My dog did not seem to respond well to the antibiotics and continued to barely be able to do more than get up once or twice a day for a drink. At that point, I thought, why not try Ashitaba on both of them? It was working wonders for me and also for my husband. I started by using the powder and mixing it in their food. The cat was pickier than the dog about this. I used 1/2 tsp. two times a day. Within a few days, my dog started to act more like her old self. After two weeks, she was downright frisky and doing things she hadn't done for a couple of years, like chase foxes. (Don't worry, she never catches one). My cat seemed to perk up too. Instead of the constant meowing to eat 5-6 times a day (he is on medication for his hyperthyroidism, but even then he was always hungry and very skinny), he was doing cat things again - like napping. His last check up at the doctor revealed he had gained 1/2 pound. For him, this is fantastic! I have now switched to using the Ashitaba extract as it is easier to use for pets. I simply squirt about 16 drops directly into the cat's mouth so I am sure he gets it all and I put 16 drops on the dog's food. I do this two times a day for both of them. Ashitaba is a whole food product, remember, not an herbal.
